Setting out - Site Engineering
Our setting out/ engineering surveys can provide the important information that the workers on the ground need to carry out their works. We can provide a range of services in this field from staking out positions of boreholes/ monitoring wells & trial pits for site investigation project through to setting out information for roads and sewers or plot works, we can also assist piling contractors with the setting out of pile locations & return visits to enable the rig to run efficiently with less down time.
Useful Setting Out Information:
-
Setting out is an important first step in getting the information from drawings onto the ground, depending on the project we use a mix of total stations and GPS technology to accurately stake out any given points/ lines from drawings for workers on site to follow for the successful completion of the build. We usually take information from drawings provided to us prior to arrival on site such as CSV files with coordinate lists, AutoCAD drawings which information can be extracted from or sometimes just a pdf with easting/ northing & elevation ready to be keyed into our instruments and staked out!
-
Having a site engineer or engineering surveyor onsite to set out information from drawings is a big part of any project, accurate setting out saves time on site and avoids costly mistakes. We can help with small jobs all the way through to large scale projects. Instead of traditional methods our surveyors use Trimble total stations and GPS technology to accurately plot information on site. Projects can range from extensions to existing buildings/ small to large scale housing developments needing roads and sewers works to sites that need steelworks setting out and more in depth site engineering.

When carrying out setting out works on site, our surveyors will store any points & information that are set out for their/ our records, this can prove our accuracyโs on the project at a later date or be handed over to the client for QA purposes. Our surveyors will arrive on site with all information needed alongside a copy of any drawings submitted to us with a laptop for extracting further information needed on site. We use Trimble survey equipment with is owned by us and fully maintained, all service and calibration certificates are available upon request if needed. Pins, pegs & profiles can be used on site to display setting out on the ground and all setting out information proof can be provided to our client after completion on site in a format of their choice if stated prior to commencement.
